‘Spud Infinity’ by Adrienne Lenker / Big Thief

I saw Big Thief play in October of 2019 at First Ave in Minneapolis. Adrienne Lenker played this song and it really stuck with me. I learned it on the guitar and was wanting a new pet project to test out some visual ideas in After Effects, so I set about making this animation. The more I worked with the song, the more I grew to love it.

I went with a color scheme that felt organic and down to earth. I chose the font for it’s playful sort of subtle but spunky serif. I was playing around with slow wave-like masks. I think everything came together well to achieve what I set out to do—highlight the beautiful and compassionate lyrics written by Lenker. Hope you enjoy.
